Demi Vollering (Team SD Worx - Protime) remains the measure of all things at the Tour de Suisse 2024. After her superior victory the day before, she now also triumphed on stage 2. The Dutchwoman started the mountain time trial quite calmly, but then turned up the heat, especially in the final section of the long climb. Switching her racing bike from a time trial bike to a road bike on the climb paid off: With an average speed of 23.676 km/h, no other rider came close to the Dutchwoman. As a result, she outpaced Elisa Longo Borghini (Lidl-Trek) and Kim Cadzow (EF Education-Cannondale). She remains unchallenged at the top of the overall standings and continues to extend her lead.
Antonia Niedermaier (Canyon//SRAM Racing) drew attention to herself with fifth place and a strong performance on the mountain in stage 2 of the Tour de Suisse. The young German even took the lead from Brodie Chapman (Lidl-Trek) and her strong time heralded the finale. Many of the riders starting after her were unable to match Niedermaier's performance. Only four riders around the strong classification riders Juliette Labous (Team dsm-firmenich PostNL), Kim Cadzow, Elisa Longo Borghini and Demi Vollering managed to get past the German. With fifth place in the time trial, she also moved up in the overall classification. The Rosenheim native is now sixth there.
