Stage 2 begins with two different loops around the starting town of Beromünster. The starting town is passed through twice, with each loop featuring a category 3 climb. The route then zigzags westwards and then southwards on largely flat terrain.
After 125 kilometres, the finish in Nottwil is reached for the first time, shortly before which there are two sprints within one kilometre for three bonus seconds each. After the first finish passage, an additional 49-kilometre lap is completed, on which the last category 3 climb awaits 20 kilometres before the end. Less than 600 metres later, the sprint for points is on the agenda, then it's not far to the flat finish after five kilometres downhill.
Even though this stage has 1900 metres of climbing, it is the best - and possibly only - chance for the sprinters to take a stage win. The majority of the topographical difficulties lie in the first half of the race.
With Tim Merlier (Soudal - Quick Step), Arnaud Demare (Groupama-FDJ) and Giro stage winner Kaden Groves (Alpecin-Deceuninck) are among the contenders, including Bryan Coquard (Cofidis) has already celebrated two sprint victories this year. With Jordi Meeus (Bora-Hansgrohe) and Binian Girmay (Intermarche-Circus-Wanty) it's one each. And then of course there is Wout van Aert (Jumbo-Visma). So far this year, the Belgian has not been able to build on his successes from last year, but this is perhaps also due to the fact that his absolute focus is on the upcoming Tour de France. Anything is possible for him.
The stage starts at 13:05. With expected average speeds of 40 to 44 km/h, the riders should arrive in Nottwil between 17:08 and 17:32.
The Tour de Suisse will not be shown on German television. In Switzerland, however, the channel SRF2 will broadcast the 2nd stage live from 3.20 pm. At this time, the paid live streams from GCN+, Discovery+ and thus also Eurosport will also join the programme.
