Gewann die Tour de France in den Jahren 1986, 1989 und 1990: Der US-Amerikaner Greg LeMond.

Three-time Tour de France winner Greg LeMond is suffering from chronic leukaemia and has already started treatment.

"Fortunately, it is a type of cancer that is treatable and a type of leukaemia that is not life-threatening or debilitating," the 60-year-old American said in a statement. The former professional cyclist was the first non-European to win the Tour in 1986 and went on to win in 1989 and 1990.

After many tests and a bone marrow biopsy, he received the diagnosis a few days ago, LeMond announced. According to the doctors, he could be on the road to recovery in a few months and the long-term prognosis is "very favourable", LeMond wrote. He is in the best of hands and is looking forward to returning to the Tour de France next summer.
