With a detour to Belgium, the longest stage of the 109th Tour de France leads towards the Vosges. After the start in Binche, the first 60 of the 220 kilometres to Longwy lead through France's neighbouring country.
The course is laid out like a classic, constantly going up and down. There should be no chance of a mass finish for sprinters. The 800 metre long and on average twelve percent steep Cote de Pulventeux five kilometres before the finish will make sure of that.
