There are two key elements for the 4th stage of the 109th Tour de France. One is the wind. It is expected to come from the north-west on Tuesday and therefore from the side on the last 20 of the 171.5 kilometres from Dunkirk to Calais.
If the dreaded wind edges don't materialise in Denmark, they could happen on the return to the home of the Tour. And then there is the Cote du Cap Blanc-Nez. A small climb a good ten kilometres before the finish that could become a problem for the heavy sprinters. Breakaways will be looking for their chances, as will teams with hill-hardy sprinters like Peter Sagan or Wout van Aert. Either way, the finale is likely to be dynamic.
