The fifth stage of the 109th Tour de France doesn't really get underway until after a good 74 kilometres. Then the peloton has to tackle the first of eleven cobbled sectors on the route from Lille to Arenberg on Wednesday.
A total of 19.4 kilometres have to be tackled on the bumpy surface, which is normally reserved for the spring classic Paris-Roubaix. Compared to the last cobbled stage in 2018, there are fewer sectors, but they are longer. German riders Nils Politt and John Degenkolb reckon they have a chance of winning the stage.
