After the ascent to the legendary Puy de Dôme volcano and the first rest day, the professional cyclists remain faithful to the Fire Mountains on the tenth stage of the Tour de France.
On Tuesday, the riders will start the hilly 167.2 kilometre section to Issoire in the Vulcania volcano theme park. The undulating route is likely to be a big day for the breakaway riders. Georg Zimmermann from Augsburg may be in a good starting position to get into a promising group.
Four third-category climbs await the riders on the constant ups and downs. After climbing the 5.6 per cent steep ramp to the Côte de La Chapelle-Marcousse, the pros then only have to ride downhill to the finish line.
