Will endlich auch bei der Tour de France das Gelbe Trikot bis Paris tragen: Primoz Roglic.

Despite a few defeats in the past, Primoz Roglic firmly believes in his first victory at the Tour de France.

Roglic: Pogacar is beatable

He does not even consider his Slovenian compatriot Tadej Pogacar, winner of the last two Tours of France, to be unbeatable. "We have many riders with very high quality. Now we have to work well together. We firmly believe that we can beat Tadej," said the 32-year-old on Wednesday in Copenhagen.

The 109th Tour begins in the Danish capital on Friday with an individual time trial.

In 2020, Roglic was pushed into second place by Pogacar on the penultimate stage. Last year, the captain of the Jumbo-Visma team had to abandon after a crash and watch Pogacar win with a comfortable lead.

Zeeman tests positive for corona before Tour de France start

Roglic will have to do without his sports director Merijn Zeeman for at least the first stage of this year's Tour. The 43-year-old announced on Wednesday that he is ill with Covid-19 and will only join the Tour squad once he has recovered.

"Fortunately, I'm still negative," said Roglic. "All we can do is play by the rules and protect ourselves as best we can. Everything else is out of our hands."
