Defending champion Tadej Pogacar has also won the tenth stage of the Tour de France on the national holiday, taking another step towards his fifth overall victory. The Slovenian world champion secured the stage victory single-handedly after 166.6 kilometres from Aurillac to Le Lioran, thereby extending his lead in the general classification to over three minutes. Second and third places on the gruelling stage – which featured seven mountain climbs and around 3,800 metres of elevation gain – went to double Olympic champion Remco Evenepoel and the young French star Paul Seixas.
Florian Lipowitz also put in a strong performance, crossing the line in fourth place, 34 seconds behind, at an altitude of 1,240 metres. Although last year’s third-placed rider was also unable to keep up with Pogacar’s pace, he did manage to finish ahead of two-time Tour champion Jonas Vingegaard. At one point, Lipowitz even managed to shake off his co-captain Remco Evenepoel, but the Belgian fought his way back. Lipowitz is now sixth in the general classification.
For Pogacar, this was already his third stage win at the 2026 Tour and the 24th of his career. This brings him close to fourth-placed André Leducq (France/25) in the all-time rankings. Former world champion Mark Cavendish (Great Britain/35) has won the most Tour stages.
On Wednesday, the sprinters can once again hope for a bunch sprint. The 161.3-kilometre stage runs from Vichy to Nevers, almost entirely over flat terrain. Only two fourth-category climbs await the riders.
