The total triumph of Team SD Worx was completed by Lotte Kopecky, who not only came third on the day, but also moved up to second place in the overall standings. Like Kasia Niewiadoma (Canyon//SRAM), the Belgian was 3:03 minutes behind Vollering in the overall standings - in the end, 21 hundredths of a second decided against the Pole, who finished third overall, just like last year.
Niewiadoma was ultimately able to console himself with the mountain jersey, while Kopecky also took the green jersey. However, there was no consolation for Annemiek van Vleuten (Movistar). The defending champion slipped off the podium on the final day and ultimately had to make do with 4th place in the overall standings.
Ricarda Bauernfeind (Canyon//SRAM) was able to confirm her 9th place in the overall standings, while Clara Koppenburg (Cofidis) moved up two places to 15th.
"Of course I'm disappointed. I wasn't good enough on the last two days," van Vleuten told Eurosport after the race. "I gave it my all and didn't actually make any stupid mistakes. But it wasn't enough, I don't know what was going on. I wasn't the person I can be. Even when I got up this morning, I knew it wasn't going to be much better than at the Tourmalet."
Vollering also had few words for her performance, but for completely different reasons. "I still can't believe it," said the 26-year-old in the official winner's statement. "Yes, I've worked hard, but it's not just hard work. You also have to believe. So much has to come together. But you also have to stay calm, find a balance, a relaxed way of approaching everything. I felt comfortable with everything I did."
