After the Grand Depart in Clermont-Ferrand, the favourites have to show themselves for the first time. Right from the start, the race climbs for 25 kilometres, with six mountain classifications awaiting over the course of the day and a final climb in the finale. The Cote de Trebiac with 3.4 kilometres and an average gradient of 5.8 per cent up to Mauriac will show who has brought their mountain legs to France.

Lisa Brennauer's assessment of stage 2 of the women's Tour de France

"A constant up and down leads the riders over six mountain classifications and countless unclassified climbs! Right at the start of the tour, a serious test of strength between the classement riders. The last mountain classification is only 1.5 kilometres before the finish, which promises maximum excitement."
