On 25 October 2023, the route presentation of the Tour de France 2024 will take place at the Palais de Congres in Paris. The Grand Depart of the 111th edition of the Tour of France will be in Florence next year, with the finale a time trial in Nice. Not only will the stages of the biggest men's race in the world be presented, but the route of the Tour de France Femmes 2024 will also be unveiled at the event.

The first three stages of the Tour de France 2024 were presented back in December 2022, all of which will be held in Italy. Because Paris has been awarded the 2024 Olympic Games, which will take place shortly after the Tour de France, the finish line will not be in the French capital for the first time in the history of the Tour de France. Instead, the Tour will end in Nice with an individual time trial. Apart from the first three and last two stages, no other sections have been confirmed ahead of the route presentation on 25 October.

100 years after the first Italian overall victory in the Tour de France by Ottavio Bottecchia, the 111th edition of the Tour of France will be held in Italy. The Grand Depart takes place in Florence, from where the 205-kilometre route leads to Rimini on the Adriatic coast. The route profile is likely to suit the classics riders - so a breakaway victory is not unlikely here. The peloton will also pass through San Marino, which will be the 14th country to host the Tour. The second stage leads into the centre of Bologna, and the third stage will conclude the guest appearance in Italy. It is a flat stage over 225 kilometres from Piacenza to Turin and will probably end in a bunch sprint.

The final two stages of next year's Tour de France have also already been published by the organisers. The 20th stage is the last mountain stage of the tour and leads the riders from Nice into the centre of the country. After three challenging climbs, the race ends with a mountain finish on the Col de la Couillole at 1678 metres. The finale then takes the form of an individual time trial. This will take the riders from Monaco over a long 35 kilometres and two climbs to the finish in Nice, where the Tour de France 2024 will come to an end on flat terrain. The last time there was a time trial as the final stage of the Tour de France was in 1989, when Greg Le Mond beat his rival Laurent Fignon in a lash finish. In the end, the two riders were separated by just eight seconds between first and second place.

Tour de France Femmes 2024

The route of the Tour de France Femmes 2024 will also be presented on 25 October. The third edition of the biggest women's race in the world will take place from 12 to 18 August. The organiser A.S.O. has already announced that the Grand Depart will take place in Rotterdam in the Netherlands. This will be the first time that the Tour de France Femmes will be held on non-French soil. The finish of the first stage will be in The Hague and the start of the second stage in Dordrecht. There will also be a double stage on 13 August, with a time trial in Rotterdam in the afternoon.
