The 17th stage of the Tour de France will be a real endurance test and could possibly lead to a preliminary decision in the duel between the favourites Jonas Vingegaard and Tadej Pogacar for the overall victory.
More than 5000 metres of climbing are on the programme on Wednesday, the queen stage is considered one of the most difficult in the Tour of France.
The 166 kilometres between Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc and Courchevel lead the rivals Vingegaard and Pogacar up the Col de la Loze at 2304 metres. The torturous route up the Alpine giant is 28 kilometres long with an average gradient of six per cent. Two category one and one category two climbs have to be mastered beforehand.
