Frankfurt/Main (dpa) - Time trial world champion Filippo Ganna has tested positive for the coronavirus. This was announced by the Italian Cycling Federation a few days before the European Track Cycling Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria (11 to 15 November).
Ganna, who won the World Championship individual time trial in Imola this year and later also four stages at the Giro d'Italia, will therefore not be taking part in the title fights in Bulgaria. He has travelled home from his team's training camp and is now in quarantine. The 24-year-old had felt unwell this week and subsequently had a corona test carried out. This has now come back positive.
