At the head of the Roland team is Tamara Dronova-Balabolina. The 31-year-old Russian is regarded as a proven all-rounder and puncheur who has her strengths in the mountains as well as in hilly stages. Dronova-Balabolina has already attracted attention this year with a stage win at the Tour El Salvador and now wants to prove her qualities at the Tour de France Femmes.
Petra Stiasny, who is only 23 years old, could play a special role in the Roland team. The Swiss rider has made a name for herself as an excellent climber. Stiasny has already impressed this season with a victory at the Grand Prix Boquerón and also showed her qualities on the mountain at the Tour de Suisse Women with an eleventh place in the overall standings. At the Tour de France Femmes, she could cause a furore, particularly in the difficult mountain stages, and perhaps even fight for the mountain jersey.
With Morgane Coston and Antri Christoforou, the Roland team has two experienced riders who can provide important support. The 34-year-old Frenchwoman Coston is also a strong climber and could also spring a surprise in the mountains herself. Her experience and local knowledge of the Tour of France could prove to be a valuable advantage. The 33-year-old Christoforou from Cyprus brings important qualities as an all-rounder and puncheur, which could particularly come into play on the medium-difficulty stages. As the team with the fewest points in the World Tour, the squad must ensure good results if possible in order not to lose the status of the highest categorisation again.
