Frankfurt/Main (dpa) - The Team Sunweb cycling team will start next year under a new name and with new team colours.

Due to a "leading strategic partnership" with the chemical company Royal DSM, the racing team will be called Team DSM in future, as announced at a digital press conference. The Dutch tourism company Sunweb will nevertheless remain a partner. Instead of wearing white, red and black as before, the professional cyclists will in future compete in black jerseys with light blue stripes.

Among others, the Germans Nikias Arndt, Jasha Sütterlin and Max Kanter ride for the racing team, which has celebrated great success in recent years. The star of the team is the Swiss rider Marc Hirschi. The 22-year-old Tour de France stage winner joined the team on Friday from Gran Canaria, where he is currently preparing for the new season. "I want to continue to improve in 2021. I will prepare for the tough classics and would like to compete in one of the grand tours," said Hirschi.
