Forced break for Liane Lippert: The top German rider will not be able to get on her racing bike for the next few days. A stress fracture in her femoral neck bone is slowing the Friedrichshafen native down.

Liane Lippert posts on Instagram after injury

"Instead of cycling in the sun, I'm currently rocking in the snow on my crutches," wrote Liane Lippert on Instagram on Thursday. "I'm currently having to take a short break as I've been diagnosed with a stress fracture in my leg. But I'm feeling better day by day and normally I should be back on the bike quickly after such an injury."

Lippert has been among the world's best for some time now, which she underlined impressively in the past season. The Movistar rider won a stage of the Tour de France Femmes, the Tre Valli Varesine one-day race, a stage at the Tour de Romandie and took her third German championship title on the road. She also took second place at Fleche Wallonne, third place at Brabantse Pijl and seventh place at Strade Bianche.
