The 21-year-old defending champion won the 500-metre time trial in 33.057 seconds, taking her second gold medal at the Vélodrome. The Russian Anastasija Wojnowa, who had won the qualification in the morning, finished in silver. Darya Shmelyova (also Russia) completed the podium. Friedrich had won gold in the team sprint with Pauline Grabosch and Emma Hinze at the start of the competitions.
Grabosch in fourth place and Alessa Catriona Pröpster in eighth place did not make it into the medal ranks on Saturday. The German Cycling Federation (BDR) has thus secured five gold medals in Roubaix and improved on its result from the home World Championships in Berlin on the penultimate of the five days of competition.
