Andorra la Vella (dpa) - German professional cyclist Tony Martin is back in training after his serious crash at the Tour de France.

On Sunday, the 36-year-old posted a photo on social media of himself leaning against his bike. "Happy to be back on the bike. I'm still in a bit of pain, but simple training is possible. The season is not over yet," wrote the veteran, who pulled out of the most important race in the world after a crash on stage 11 this week.

The photo still showed severe marks on his face and right leg. Martin had received 15 stitches and some of his teeth were loose after his crash. The Jumbo-Visma pro told the Bild newspaper that he had "hit his face unhappily" and "split his upper lip". On Thursday, Martin travelled back home with his mother and her partner.
