The two-time winner of the Tour de France announced that the "Tadej Pogacar Cancer Research Foundation" was collecting donations to fight the disease. The idea came from his personal trainer Inigo San-Millan, who is committed to a "paradigm shift in cancer research". Put simply, the aim is to strengthen research into the influence of sport in the fight against cancer.
Former superstar Lance Armstrong, whose seven victories in the Tour de France were disallowed due to doping, already had his own cancer foundation. Before his Tour victories, Armstrong suffered from testicular cancer and then founded the "Livestrong" organisation in 1997. Armstrong withdrew from the foundation in 2012 following his doping confession.
