Tel Aviv (dpa) - Professional cyclist André Greipel will continue to ride for Team Israel Start-up Nation. The team announced that the 37-year-old's contract has been extended by two years until the end of the 2022 season. Greipel would then be over 40 years old.

He had expected that the team would only offer him a one-year extension, Greipel said according to the press release. Of course, he is now very happy about so much trust. Israel Start-up Nation says that it is relying on the sprinter primarily because of his experience and leadership qualities.

After a rather disappointing year with the French racing team Arkea Samsic, Greipel switched to Israel Start-Up Nation for this season. He signed a one-year contract there. The Germans Nils Politt and Rick Zabel are also under contract with the team. Greipel, who lives in Hürth near Cologne, forms a training group with his two team-mates.
