At the Tour de France, he was in demand as a domestique for Tadej Pogacar. Now the Cologne-born rider is enjoying success of his own at the Tour of Britain.
German time trial champion Nils Politt has won the final stage of the Tour of Britain. The professional cyclist from Cologne claimed victory on the fifth stage, covering 156.1 kilometres and starting and finishing in Earlston, finishing twelve seconds ahead of his Belgian UAE teammate Florian Vermeersch.
For Politt, it was the tenth professional victory of his career. The 32-year-old usually acts as a domestique, as he did at the Tour de France alongside the currently injured cycling star Tadej Pogacar. Politt finished eleventh in the general classification. The UAE Team also triumphed here, thanks to the Belgian Tim Wellens.
