After ten years of collaboration, bike sponsor Cube and the World Tour team Intermarché - Wanty are parting ways at the end of 2025.

Cube, or rather the brand-leading Pending System GmbH & Co. KG from Waldershof has announced the end of its ten-year partnership with the Intermarché - Wanty cycling team at the end of 2025. According to Cube, Intermarché - Wanty will merge its structures with Team Lotto, as a result of which existing sponsorship agreements - including the one with the German bike manufacturer - will expire.

During the ten-year partnership, the Belgian team has celebrated numerous successes, including victory in the 2016 Amstel Gold Race, its first Tour de France participation in 2017 and several stage wins in Grand Tours. A particular highlight was Biniam Girmay winning the green jersey at the 2024 Tour de France, where he also took three stage wins. Other prominent names who have enjoyed success on Cube racing bikes include Enrico Gasparotto, Alexander Kristoff, Taco van der Hoorn, Rui Costa and Louis Meintjes. In the person of Georg Zimmermann, the reigning German road champion is also currently still under contract with Intermarché - Wanty and riding Cube. Another German rider in the team is classics specialist Jonas Rutsch.

Reasons for the end of the partnership

According to Cube, it was determined to continue the partnership. The fact that the existing sponsorship contracts with Intermarché - Wanty are now coming to an end indicates that the team will play the role of junior partner in the merger with Team Lotto. This is remarkable in that Team Lotto is currently still riding with a licence as a second-class professional team, while Intermarché - Wanty operates as a World Tour team. Both teams currently have 28 riders under contract. It is not yet known which riders will be part of the merged team's squad in the future.

In the press release, Cube hints at wanting to return to professional sport as a sponsor or outfitter elsewhere.
