After the breakaway triumphed the day before at Omloop Nieuwsblad, the top teams left nothing to chance at Omloop van het Hageland 2025. Seven riders came together on the finishing straight, where Femke Gerritse (Team SD Worx - Protime) had the fastest legs. It was only centimetres that were enough for the Dutchwoman in the end with her tiger jump. Lara Gillespie (UAE Team ADQ) was the unlucky runner-up, with Susanne Andersen (Uno-X Mobility) finishing in third place.

After Femke Gerritse and Lara Gillespie crossed the finish line, it was initially unclear which of the two riders had won the Omloop van het Hageland 2025. It was too close to call who had crossed the finish line first. After viewing the pictures, it became clear. Gerritse was able to celebrate the classic victory. The Dutchwoman had help from her team-mate Anna van der Breggen. She put in a strong race, was honoured as the most combative rider and launched the sprint for the eventual winner Femke Gerritse.

How Omloop van het Hageland 2025 went

After the sensational breakaway victory the day before, there were also attempts by many female riders to get into a breakaway group at Omloop van het Hageland 2025. Eugenia Bujak (Cofidis Women Team) and later Virginia Bortoli (Top Girls Fassa Bortolo), among others, tried their luck but were then swallowed up by the peloton. No rider really got away decisively.

The pace in the peloton was high, so the peloton had to keep parrying attacks from riders. As a result, more and more riders got into trouble. As a result, the peloton broke up and thinned out.

Group of favourites sets itself apart

A group of around 20 riders then broke away 50 kilometres before the finish. Among them were many of the favourites for the day's victory. Anna van der Breggen (Team SD Worx - Protime), Puck Pieterse (Fenix-Deceuninck), Eva van Agt (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) and Charlotte Kool (Team Picnic PostNL) were among them.

Anna van der Breggen in particular continued to put the pedal to the metal in the leading group, with more and more riders dropping out as time went on. Among others, Christina Schweinberger (Fenix-Deceuninck) and Chiara Consonni (CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto) had to leave the fight for the decision.

Leading group thins out

With 15 kilometres to go, the leading group dwindled to seven riders. In addition to van der Breggen and Pieterse, Maike van der Duin (CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto) and Lara Gillespie (UAE Team ADQ) were also in the group.

The seven riders came together on the finishing straight. Femke Gerritse (Team SD Worx - Protime) had the fastest legs there. She came out on top just ahead of Lara Gillespie. Susanne Andersen (Uno-X Mobility) came third.
