Born in Krefeld, he achieved his first international successes for the German Cycling Federation. In 2009, he won bronze at the Junior World Championships in the team sprint. After switching to the British federation in 2011, he won the team sprint at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and 2016 in Rio de Janeiro. This year, Hindes, who has an English father, was a substitute for the Games in Tokyo.
