Ein Klassiker im Radsport-Kalender: Das WorldTour-Rennen Eschborn-Frankfurt.

Olympic cycling champion Lisa Brennauer hopes that the German cycling classic Eschborn-Frankfurt will also be held for women in the future.

"That would be amazing, of course. There used to be a women's race here. Maybe it's just a matter of time. I would be very, very happy to see a really big event in women's cycling in Germany again," said the 33-year-old on Hessischer Rundfunk radio. She was a co-commentator at times during the men's classic.

The race will be held on May Day for the first time since 2019. In 2020, the classic race was cancelled due to the coronavirus, in 2021 it was moved to the autumn. Olympic track champion Brennauer, who is also active on the road, would welcome an expansion of the programme. "If one were to be organised here, it would be something I've wanted for a long time," said the Allgäu native.
