Erfurt (dpa) - Olympic cycling champion Lisa Klein from Erfurt has ended her season due to injury.
The gold medallist in the team pursuit in Tokyo will therefore miss the last two highlights of the season in October. The 25-year-old will not be able to take part in either the European Track Cycling Championships in Grenchen, Switzerland, or the subsequent World Championships in Roubaix, France.
"I'm forced to have surgery on my shoulder on Thursday," the 25-year-old wrote on Instagram. Klein also won gold with the mixed relay team at the Road World Championships in Belgium last week.
