The second-division team Polti-Kometa has unveiled its new jersey for 2024. The design has little in common with the former Polti cult jerseys from the 1990s.

In November, the Polti joins the Eolo-Kometa team for headlines. The steam appliance manufacturer, which was already involved in cycling as a sponsor between 1994 and 2000, is the new name sponsor of Ivan Basso and Alberto Contador's team, which is now called Polti-Kometa.

In the 1990s, the Polti team was known for its colourful jerseys. Cycling fans hoping for a similarly colourful outfit from Polti-Kometa will be disappointed with the presentation of the jersey. The new kit is kept simple. White is the basic colour of the jersey, complemented by red and green frames of the sponsors Polti and Kometa as well as red shorts with white lettering. The previous namesake Eolo, which dominated the team's 2023 kit with its blue colour, remains present with blue sections on the sleeves.

In the 1990s, the picture looked very different. Yellow, green and red formed a wild mix of colours on the jersey worn by, among others, Richard Virenque, once the mountain king of the Tour de France.

The 2024 jersey will be manufactured by Gsport. The Spanish company will kit out Polti-Kometa for at least three years. The team will continue to rely on Aurum racing bikes - the bike brand of Contador and Basso.

Polti-Kometa is one of the UCI Pro Teams and is once again hoping for a wildcard for the 2024 Giro d'Italia. The Italian-licensed team has already won two stages there in recent years. Davide Bais won on the Gran Sasso in 2023 and Lorenzo Fortunato on the Monte Zoncolan in 2021. The latter has left the team and will ride for Astana in 2024. A total of seven new signings were presented, including Matteo Fabbro, who joins from Bora-Hansgrohe.
