The women's foursome of the German Cycling Federation (BDR) continues on the road to success.
After winning the Olympic Games in world record time and the World and European Championships last year, the quartet of national coach André Korff won the Nations Cup at the Glasgow Velodrome to kick off the track cycling season.
In the final of the 4000-metre team pursuit, the Olympic champions Franziska Brauße (Eningen), Lisa Klein (Erfurt), Mieke Kröger (Bielefeld) and world champion Laura Süßemilch (Aulendorf) beat Great Britain (4:18.908) in 4:13.421 minutes, just like in the Olympic final. Lisa Brennauer (Durach), who was part of the successful gold quad in Tokyo, was absent in Scotland due to having just recovered from coronavirus. Third place went to Italy.
The newly formed men's four with Benjamin Boos (Erfurt), Tobias Buck-Gramcko (Göttingen), Nicolas Heinrich (Zwickau) and Theo Reinhardt (Berlin) finished fifth in 3:53.491 minutes. The new national coach Tim Zühlke had to replace Felix Groß from Leipzig at short notice. The professional from the UAE Emirates World Tour team underwent successful shoulder surgery in Leipzig after his crash at Paris-Roubaix on Wednesday.
