The free virtual cycling platform MyWhoosh has announced the details for the second edition of its Championships. The event is scheduled to take place from 12 to 19 August 2025 and will build on the success of the premiere in 2023. With total prize money of one million US dollars (around 860,000 euros), which will be paid out equally to men and women, the virtual cycling race is once again positioning itself as the most financially attractive e-sports cycling event in the world. The event takes place over eight days and comprises seven stages. Men and women will compete in separate events, with the men's race covering a total distance of 440 kilometres with over 5,000 metres of climbing. The women will complete 340 kilometres, covering more than 3800 metres in altitude. There are six rider categories in both competitions. Registration opens on 23 June.

Routing and stage profiles

The virtual route guides participants through various digital routes and Landscapes. These include sections in Japan, Arabia, the Swiss city of Zurich and the historic region of AlUla in Saudi Arabia. The stages offer a mixture of flat sprint sections, mountain climbs and an individual time trial. For the men, the race begins on 12 August with a 56.3-kilometre stage in Japan, which features 460 metres of climbing. The longest stage leads over 83.4 kilometres through Colombia on 19 August. The queen stage with 1756 metres of climbing over 66.2 kilometres will take place in Japan on 16 August. The women's race of the MyWhoosh Championships also starts in Japan, but over a distance of 43.2 kilometres with 355 metres of elevation gain. The longest stage will be on 13 August, covering 65 kilometres through Arabia. The most challenging stage for the women is planned for 16 August in Japan, with 1018 metres of climbing over 45.5 kilometres.

MyWhoosh Championships Registration

Registration for the MyWhoosh Championships 2025 opens on 23 June 2025 and runs until 3 August 2025. Interested riders must register for the event on the MyWhoosh website. A prerequisite for participation is the completion of the MyWhoosh Power Passport Test. Drivers who have taken part in the MyWhoosh Sunday Race Club (SRC) in the last three months are automatically qualified for the Championships and do not need to take a new Power Passport test. This arrangement is intended to reward regular users of the platform and at the same time motivate new participants to continue using the app.

MyWhoosh Championships Prize money

By distributing the prize money equally between men and women, MyWhoosh is setting an example for equality in virtual cycling. In addition to the cash prizes, all finishers will receive an exclusive digital MyWhoosh Championships jersey for their avatars. The overall winners will be determined based on the cumulative time over all seven stages. Prizes will be awarded to the top 10 individual riders and the top seven teams in the overall standings for each category. In addition, there are daily and overall rankings for sprint and mountain classifications as well as prizes for the top 3 in each stage.

MyWhoosh Championships Categories

To recognise as many participants as possible, MyWhoosh has introduced special awards. The best riders in the master category (45 years and older), the youth category (under 23 years) and the best participants from the GCC region (Gulf Cooperation Council) will be honoured. These categories are designed to make the event more attractive to a wide range of cyclists. The MyWhoosh Championships 2025 are particularly attractive because of the high prize money - an important tool in the battle for market share.
