The young Mexican star Isaac del Toro has won the 40th edition of the Deutschland Tour. The Tour de France bronze medallist crossed the finish line in the main field on the fourth and final stage, a 156.5-kilometre route around Heilbronn, thereby successfully defending his blue jersey as the overall leader. The final stage victory went to the Frenchman Paul Magnier, who won the sprint ahead of the Dutchman Danny van Poppel and Tim Torn Teutenberg.
Del Toro was even in with a chance of winning the stage right up until a few hundred metres from the finish, before he was eventually caught by the peloton. For the 22-year-old Del Toro, this is already his fourth stage race victory this year. The team-mate of cycling star Tadej Pogacar had previously won the UAE Tour, Tirreno-Adriatico and the Tour d’Auvergne – Rhône-Alpes (formerly the Dauphiné).
