German professional cyclist Marco Brenner has won the Tour of Poland, marking the greatest international success of his career. The 2024 German champion secured the overall victory on the final stage with a seventh-place finish in the individual time trial, thereby claiming his first WorldTour victory.
On the 12.5-kilometre course in Wieliczka, Brenner was just eleven seconds slower than the Swiss specialist Stefan Küng. This saw him leap from fourth to first place in the overall standings. In the final standings, the youngster finished ten seconds ahead of New Zealander Finn Fisher-Black of the Red Bull team.
Brenner, who rides for the Swiss Tudor team, is regarded in the cycling world as a talented stage-race rider and has already secured several top-five finishes. The Augsburg-born rider has not yet been selected for the Tour de France.
