Oyama (dpa) - Tricyclists Jana Majunke and Angelika Dreock-Käser have celebrated a German double success at the Paralympics.

After the time trial, the 31-year-old Majunke also won the 26.4 kilometre road race in Oyama on Thursday, taking the tenth German gold medal in Japan. The Cottbus native, who suffers from spastic movement disorders, dominated the field right from the start, quickly pulled away and won in 1:00:58 hours. "I still can't believe it," she told ARD after winning her second gold. "The course just suits me."

Her 23-year-old club colleague Angelika Dreock-Käser, who was competing at the Paralympics for the first time following a stroke, finished second after 1:03:40 hours and also celebrated her second medal after taking bronze in the time trial.

Zeyen misses out on third medal

Annika Zeyen missed out on her third medal at the Games. The paraplegic from Bonn finished fourth in the mixed relay together with her team-mates Bernd Jeffre and Vico Merklein in 53:55 minutes. Italy (52:32) took gold on the former Formula 1 track at the foot of Mount Fuji, followed by France (53:03) and the USA (53:11). Zeyen had previously won gold in the time trial and silver in the road race.
