Roubaix (dpa) - Theft in northern France: a large number of the Italian national track cycling team's golden racing bikes were stolen on Saturday night on the fringes of the World Championships in Roubaix. The equipment supplier reported this on Instagram on Saturday.

"We are shocked to hear that most of the bikes have been stolen," they say. Following the Olympic victory of the track foursome in Tokyo, the bikes of the Italian luxury brand Pinarello are strikingly painted in gold and equipped with specific 3D-printed handlebars, which are very important for the athletes. At the World Championships, which run until Sunday, the Italians led the national rankings on Saturday afternoon with a total of seven medals. Pinarello is asking fans for help in solving the theft.
