«Hyper Hyper»-schnell sprintete Georg Zimmermann ins Ziel.
A sensation with Scooter in his ear: pro cyclist Georg Zimmermann's dream day at Eschborn-Frankfurt begins with one of his favourite artists.

This victory began with an unusual wake-up call: instead of a ringtone, Georg Zimmermann was greeted by lush beats from the band Scooter on the morning of the Eschborn-Frankfurt cycling classic. "I slept well and woke up to Scooter music," said the 28-year-old after his surprising triumph in the Main metropolis.

The hobby races at the 63rd edition of the Eschborn-Frankfurt cycling classic created a great atmosphere in the morning. Early on, the beats boomed through the city and hit a self-confessed fan of all people. According to Zimmermann, he has already been to several Scooter concerts. He described the band as his "favourite artist". "It was a good start to the day," he said. After that, "one thing led to another".

First "hyper hyper", then hyper fast to the finish line

And indeed: a few hours later, the German champion delivered the perfect performance. In a tough race over 211.4 kilometres, he skilfully held back in the decisive phase and set off on a long sprint in the final - with success. Zimmermann relegated the British top favourite Thomas Pidcock to second place.

For Zimmermann, it was the biggest success of his career and one that perhaps also began a little to the beat of the techno beats. In the end, everything fell into place: the form, the tactics - and apparently also the beats in the morning.
