This should enable people across the country to experience top sport free of charge. When presenting his budget this Wednesday, department head Rishi Sunak wants to make a total of 40 million pounds (around 47.5 million euros) available for sports competitions.
In addition to the start of the tour, Great Britain also wants to organise the Women's Rugby World Cup in 2025. Part of the money will go towards the campaign for the joint bid with Ireland for the 2030 Men's World Cup, the ministry added.
The move is part of the government's plan to boost infrastructure outside London and the relatively affluent south-east and create a level playing field across the country. 95 per cent of investment for the start of the Tour and 75 per cent of spending on the Rugby World Cup is planned outside south-east England, it said.
