The 7th stage of the Giro d'Italia Women 2025 from Fermignano to Monte Nerone promises to be a real royal stage. Over 150 kilometres, the riders have to tackle a series of short but demanding climbs before the grand finale on Monte Nerone. The stage has hardly any flat sections and offers the riders virtually no opportunity to recover between the climbs. After the start in Fermignano, the route initially leads over undulating roads towards Apecchio. From there, the first part of the climb up Monte Nerone to Pian di Trebbio begins.
A descent to Pianello is followed by a series of short but demanding climbs. First, the riders have to tackle the climb to Moria, followed by the Passo la Croce. The route then continues over the Valico di Sitria and Croce Avellana. These low mountain passages always offer opportunities for attacks. Smaller groups could break away, especially on the technically demanding descents. The final phase of the stage leads through Frontone, Cagli and Secchiano before the route meets the climb to Pian di Trebbio again. The last eight kilometres lead the riders to the finish on Monte Nerone. With an average gradient of over eight per cent and ramps of up to twelve per cent, this final climb is extremely demanding. The finish is at an altitude of 1395 metres.
The decisive day for the riders in the overall classification has arrived. It will be important for them to keep their helpers with them for as long as possible. The strong climbers could try to break away from the field on the climbs before Monte Nerone. The decisive factor will be who still has team support at the foot of the final climb. Breakaway attempts on the undulating passages at the start of the stage have little chance of success due to the difficult finale. The form of the day and the tactical race organisation will decide the stage win and possibly also the overall classification. The organisers are expecting a large crowd of spectators on Monte Nerone, which will provide a spectacular setting for the showdown of this queen stage.
