Stage 5 of the Giro d'Italia Women 2025 from Mirano to Monselice marks the last quiet day before the three decisive stages that will have a major impact on the overall classification. No major challenges await the riders on the completely flat 120-kilometre course. From Mirano, the route leads along roads with little traffic through areas that the Giro has not visited for years. The peloton passes the towns of Mira, Dolo, Piove di Sacco and Conselve before reaching the circuit at the foot of the Euganean Hills.

The final circuit stretches over 14.2 kilometres and has to be ridden twice. In the last three kilometres, the riders have to cross two bridges over railway lines and canals. These crossings could lead to a fight for position in the finale. The finish line is on a 450 metre long straight.

Due to the flat profile, a bunch sprint is to be expected, in which the fastest riders in the peloton will fight for the stage win. The sprinters and their teams will try to position themselves early in order to have a good starting position for the final metres. Crashes or defects in the final stages could have fatal consequences.

The flat stage offers the riders who are not sprinting for victory a final opportunity to save energy and prepare themselves mentally for the upcoming challenges in the mountains. Three tough stages are on the programme in the following days, which will decide the overall winner of the Giro d'Italia Women 2025. For some riders, however, it will be the last chance to claim a stage win before the terrain begins for the climbing specialists.
