Die 2. Etappe der Deutschland Tour 2023 wird in Kassel gestartet
The organisation of the Deutschland Tour 2023 has published another detail about the route. Kassel will be the starting point of stage 2.

On 23 March, the Gesellschaft zur Förderung des Radsports, the organiser of the Deutschland Tour, announced that the second stage will finish in Winterberg. The exact route of the Deutschland Tour will be published at the end of April.

Stage 2 of the Deutschland Tour: Start at Wilhelmshöhe Palace

The neutral start of stage 2 takes place in the centre of Kassel, from where the peloton heads towards Bad Wilhelmshöhe. The sharp start will be given in front of the Marstall building at Wilhelmshöhe Castle. "We are very much looking forward to being a stage venue for the Deutschland Tour for the first time. For the sports city of Kassel, the Deutschland Tour is another outstanding sporting event this year that all citizens of Kassel can look forward to. In coordination between the Sports Office, Kassel Marketing and the Society for the Promotion of Cycling, we were able to make the necessary preparations within a very short time and confirm our participation as a starting stage location. The excellent cooperation between the players is very promising and whets the appetite for a very special event in the heart of Kassel," says Dirk Stochla, Head of Sport for the City of Kassel.

The final part of the 2nd stage of the Deutschland Tour 2023 to Winterberg in the Sauerland region will feature a challenging finish lap. The route will take the peloton past the Kappe adventure mountain and the bobsleigh run not far from the Kahler Asten. The last climb of the day will end two kilometres before the finish.

Managing Director comments

"The Sauerland is literally a highlight of this year's route. With its many climbs, the region offers the perfect backdrop for an interesting and exciting bike race. What's more, in Winterberg we will be meeting a sports-loving twin town with a wealth of event and racing experience," says Matthias Pietsch, Managing Director of the Society for the Promotion of Cycling.

A prologue and the first leg to Merzig will be held in St. Wendel beforehand. After the stop in Winterberg, the route continues via Essen to the round trip finish in Bremen.
