The Tour du Faso stage race takes place from 21 to 30 October. For the first time since 1996, a German team will be competing in this UCI category 2.2 race.

1,280 kilometres of dust and relentless heat as well as the constant confrontation with poor road conditions guarantee one of the toughest bike races in the world. In TOUR 10/2011, we printed a short interview with Malte Wulfinghoff in which he presented the project. Cycling globetrotter Karsten Keunecke has put together the team around RV Trier together with Wulfinghoff. He and his five German team members not only have to cope with the tough climatic conditions, but also compete with strong rivals from Burkina Faso, Morocco and France.

A film team will accompany the drivers and a 90-minute film has been announced for 2012, which will premiere in Germany and France in spring 2012.

Background information on this exciting cycling project can be found on the team's official website: www.department-of-tomorrow.de/tourdufaso.html
