Roubaix (dpa) - The German women's track cycling team dominated the single pursuit at the World Championships and already have gold and silver before the finals in the evening.

Lisa Brennauer set a German record in the Vélodrome in Roubaix and made it into the gold medal race with her time of 3:17.572 minutes. There she will later be up against compatriot Franziska Brauße, who needed 3:22.292 minutes for the 3000 metre course. Mieke Kröger (3:22.336 minutes) also took third place and will fight for the bronze medal against Martina Alzini from Italy in the evening (from 17.30/Eurosport).

The German Cycling Federation (BDR) won medals seven and eight, equalling the result from last year's home World Championships in Berlin. Team sprint world champions Lea Sophie Friedrich and Emma Hinze also have another chance of gold in Roubaix this weekend. At the Olympics, the success-spoilt German team only won one gold and one silver medal.
