Lisa Brennauer successfully defended her individual time trial title at the German Road Cycling Championships in Sauerland despite a crash at the finish.
After a challenging 27.5 kilometres with a start and finish in Marsberg, the 34-year-old from Kempten beat Lisa Klein by 14 seconds in a time of 42:23 minutes. Hannah Ludwig came third, 25 seconds behind Brennauer.
Brennauer crashed shortly before the finish in the last bend, but crossed the finish line on foot with her bike in her hands. "I just went too fast into the last corner. I thought that was it now. When the announcer said that I was German champion again, it was of course a great feeling," said Brennauer.
