Professional cyclist Lennard Kämna has to forgo a start at the Italian gravel road race Strade Bianche on Saturday.
As his team Bora-hansgrohe announced, the 25-year-old is suffering from a stomach bug and does not want to jeopardise his planned participation in the Tour of the Basque Country at the beginning of April.
Tour hopeful Kämna returned to racing in February after an eight-month break due to mental problems and proved his strong form with a stage win at the Ruta del Sol. A top placing for Kämna would probably also have been possible at the Strade Bianche one-day race in the hills of Tuscany.
