Aigle (dpa) - Former track cycling world champion Fabian Hernando Puerta Zapata from Colombia has been banned for four years for doping. This was announced by the world cycling organisation UCI.

Puerta Zapata tested positive for the anabolic steroid boldenone at the Colombian national championships in Cali in June 2018. The professional cyclist had previously won the keirin title at the World Championships in Apeldoorn at the end of February 2018, ahead of Japan's Tomoyuki Kawabata and Maximilian Levy from Cottbus.
