Die deutsche Radsport-Hoffnung Lennard Kämna hat nach neunmonatiger Rennpause zum Auftakt der Saudi-Tour einen 29. Platz erreicht.

After a break of almost nine months, the German Tour hopeful Lennard Kämna returned to cycling action with a 29th place at the start of the Tour of Saudi Arabia.

The 25-year-old, who won a stage at the Tour de France in 2020, reached the finish with the peloton on the first stage of 198 kilometres with start and finish in Winter Park. Australian sprint star Caleb Ewan took the stage win ahead of Kämna's Bora-Hansgrohe colleague Martin Laas (Estonia) and the Colombian Fernando Gaviria.

Kämna last rode in the Tour of the Algarve in May 2021. After that, he took some time off. In addition to physical problems, there were also mental ones. "If I was completely dry, I would say I didn't feel like it anymore. But I don't even want to talk about it anymore," the 25-year-old professional cyclist said recently.
