Zottegem (dpa) - With second place at the Grand Prix Zottegem in Belgium, German cycling star André Greipel has achieved his best result in almost seven months.

The 37-year-old won the sprint of the peloton on Tuesday behind the day's winner Piotr Havik from the Netherlands. It was Greipel's first race since his disappointing Tour de France, in which he played no part in the bunch sprints.

"That was a good result with mediocre legs," said Greipel, who last achieved a podium finish in January of this year. On Sunday, the sprinter will be at the start of the Cyclassics in Hamburg.
