The awards for the World Cyclists of the Year 2025 have been presented: Tadej Pogacar from Slovenia and French Tour winner Pauline Ferrand-Prévot received the Vélo d'Or in Paris. A jury of international specialised journalists, including TOUR, voted on the award.
Tadej Pogacar was awarded the golden Vélo d'Or trophy at a gala event in Paris on 5 December. For the second time in a row and for the third time overall, the Slovenian was chosen as the winner after victories in the Tour of Flanders, Liège-Bastogne-Liège, Tour de France, World Championships and Lombardy in 2025. In second and third place behind Pogacar (200 votes) were Jonas Vingegaard (103) and Mathieu van der Poel (95) with around half of the votes. Pogacar also secured the Trophée Eddy Merckx, which is awarded to the best one-day specialist of the year.
The result in the women's race was much closer. France's Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, who stood out in particular with her superior victory in the Tour de France Femmes, came out on top with 170 votes ahead of the Dutch riders Demi Vollering (151) and Lorena Wiebes (95). Sprint specialist Wiebes received the Merckx trophy in the women's category. Last season, she had won the new edition of the Milan-San Remo women's race, among others. The prizes are awarded by the French trade magazine Vélo, which belongs to the same group as the Tour de France organiser. A jury of 40 international specialist journalists from 25 countries, including TOUR - Das Rennradmagazin, voted for the winners.
In Germany, Tour bronze medallist Florian Lipowitz in the men's category, track specialist Franziska Brauße in the women's category and junior European champion Karl Herzog in the junior category were voted Cyclists of the Year. This election was carried out by the specialist magazine Radsport/Rennrad among its readers.
