Caleb Ewan holte sich den Sieg auf der dritten Etappe der Tirreno-Adriatico.

Professional cyclist Pascal Ackermann has once again missed out on his first victory in the jersey of his new team UAE. Despite a good starting position, the 28-year-old only finished sixth in the sprint of the third stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico long-distance race, just ahead of Phil Bauhaus.

The 170-kilometre stage from Murlo to Terli was won by Australian Caleb Ewan ahead of Frenchman Arnaud Démare and Olav Kooij from the Netherlands. Italy's time trial world champion Filippo Ganna continues to lead the overall standings.

The so-called race between the seas over seven stages will be very demanding, especially in the second half. However, there is no real mountain finish this year. The final stage will take place on Sunday around San Benedetto del Tronto on the Italian Adriatic coast. On Thursday, the contenders for the overall victory will have to show their mettle when the finale to Bellante becomes demanding.
