In the summer, the German winner of the Roubaix race, Franziska Koch, becomes time trial champion; she recently won bronze at the World Championships. She had a disappointing performance at the European Championships.

German time trial champion Franziska Koch has achieved a disappointing result in the time trial at the European Cycling Championships. The 26-year-old Paris-Roubaix winner finished eleventh in the individual time trial in Slovenia, missing out on a top-ten place. She had only recently won bronze at the World Championships in Montreal.

On the 22-kilometre course, Koch was 2 minutes and 57 seconds slower than European time trial champion Marlen Reusser from Switzerland, who defended her title and had already been celebrated as the time trial gold medallist at the World Championships.

Tour de France winner Demi Vollering from the Netherlands finished second, 23 seconds behind. France’s Juliette Berthet came third on the final day of the European Championships.
