Bruges (dpa) - After retiring from professional cycling, Germany's veteran cyclist Tony Martin wants to pass on his experience. Firstly to children.

"There are endeavours for me to contribute my experience to a sports school near my home in Switzerland. We still need to discuss the start and scope of this activity," said the 36-year-old in an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

The eight-time world champion is also looking forward to immersing himself in "other sports after 20 years of pure cycling. I can't remember the last time I went jogging or played football. That's considered poison for cyclists. I'm looking forward to kicking a ball around with friends and the kids on a Saturday afternoon," said Martin, who wouldn't push for a cycling career in his own sport.

The Cottbus native does not want a farewell race. "I've told everyone: please do me a favour and don't organise such a farewell show race with a prearranged outcome. That doesn't suit me. I'll organise a celebration in a small circle - and that's it," said Martin, who won gold with Germany in the mixed time trial at the World Championships in his last career race.
